Basketball Recap: Mcclatchy Falls Despite Big Games from Nehemiah Miller and Kai Bradford

If McClatchy was feeling good fresh off their 69-41 takedown of Chavez back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The McClatchy Lions fell just short of the Kennedy Cougars by a score of 65-63 on Monday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

McClatchy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kai Bradford, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Nehemiah Miller, who posted 17 points and four steals. Bradford's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eugene Castillo, who had nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Kennedy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Lawrence led the charge by putting up 18 points. Lawrence is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last four games he's played. Noah Hayes II was another key player, posting 16 points.

McClatchy's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Kennedy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

McClatchy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 80-70 defeat against Antelope on the 8th. As for Kennedy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-53 victory against Cordova on the 8th.
