Basketball Recap: Kenston Comes Up Short

Kenston lost against Walsh Jesuit back in December of 2017, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Kenston Bombers fell to the Walsh Jesuit Warriors 54-48. While losing is never fun, the Bombers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Warriors are ranked 177th).

Despite the loss, Kenston still got an impressive performance from Aurora Young, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Young a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Trusley, who posted nine points.

Walsh Jesuit's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddie Parker led the charge by putting up 15 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kara Esterak, who put up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Kenston and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Walsh Jesuit, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenston will face off against Crestwood at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Walsh Jesuit will take on Austintown-Fitch in a holiday battle at 6:15 p.m. on Monday at.
