Softball Recap: Oakcrest Starts Season with Win at Home

Oakcrest took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bridgeton Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Dakota Miranda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delaney Mason, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Chrystal Williams was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Bridgeton dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oakcrest will square off against rival Atlantic City at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Bridgeton is set to face off against their familiar foe Cape May County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
