Bishop Gorman is the nation's new No. 1 football team after Paramus Catholic knocks off Don Bosco Prep.
Following another loss by a team occupying the top spot in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings, the nation has a new No. 1 high school football team.
Bishop Gorman tops this week's poll after racing to an 8-0 record that includes victories over St. John Bosco and Bingham, both of whom are nationally ranked this week.
A loss by Don Bosco Prep to Paramus Catholic paved the way for Bishop Gorman's ascent. It also allowed Paramus Catholic to enjoy a major boost in the rankings as well.
As league play continues in most states, the rankings likely will continue to fluctuate heading into the playoffs.

1. (2) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 8-0The Gaels routed Durango 77-0 to claim the top spot.
2. (4) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), 7-0De La Salle proved to be too much for James Logan, winning 55-7.
3. (5) Allen (Texas), 7-0Allen led winless Hebron 16-7 at the half, then pulled away for a 44-10 victory.
4. (20) Paramus Catholic (N.J.), 6-0Paramus Catholic's defense looked spectacular in a 21-14 victory over then-No. 1 Don Bocso Prep.

6. (7) DeSoto (Texas), 6-0The Eagles continue to handle their business, beating Mansfield 49-21.
7. (10) St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), 5-1Jason Negro's squad justified its No. 1 spot in the SoCal Top 25 rankings with a 28-25 win over Mater Dei.
8. (8) Folsom (Calif.), 7-0Eight more touchdowns from Jake Browning helped Folsom beat Nevada Union 63-6.
9. (9) Bellevue (Wash.), 6-0Bellevue handed Juanita its first loss, 38-6.
10. (1) Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), 3-1The Ironmen gave up a late touchdown and lost 21-14 to Paramus Catholic.

11. (6) Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.), 5-1In a showdown of SoCal powers, Mater Dei fell to St. John Bosco 28-25.
12. (11) Central (Miami), 6-1Central beat Norland 32-12.
13. (12) Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.), 7-0Rush Propst's squad moved to 7-0 with a 58-14 win over Lee County.
14. (13) Buford (Ga.), 6-0Buford notched its fourth shutout in six games, a 56-0 win over North Hall.
15. (18) Bingham (South Jordan, Utah), 7-1Bingham withstood a great effort from Austin Kafentzis but held off Jordan 58-41.

19. (17) Cedar Hill (Texas), 5-1Cedar Hill once again was victorious, downing Duncanville 45-31.
20. (19) Mainland (Daytona Beach, Fla.), 7-0Mainland looks excellent on offense and defense. It beat Oviedo 41-7.

23. (NR) Carmel (Ind.), 8-0Following a hard-earned victory over Warren Central, Carmel is the clear-cut No. 1 team in Indiana.
24. (NR) Archbishop Rummel (Metairie, La.), 6-0Rummel looks like the top team in the Pelican State right now.
25. (NR) Servite (Anaheim, Calif.), 4-2Servite's only two losses are to teams ranked in the Top 3.
