Softball Recap: Cole Comes Up Short

Cole extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-18. They came up short against the Marion Bulldogs, falling 17-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

As for Marion, their record is now 18-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Marion's part, Cambry Dojahn was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dojahn was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Marion got a massive performance out of Madison Peavler, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Peavler has posted since back in February. Lailah Hernandez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cole will head out to challenge Jourdanton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Marion, they are taking a road trip to square off against Randolph at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Ro-Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.63 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
