Basketball Game Preview: Jefferson Christian Academy Cardinals vs. Mountain Mission Challengers

Jefferson Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Mountain Mission recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jefferson Christian Academy Cardinals will welcome the Mountain Mission Challengers at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Jefferson Christian Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 71 points on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Roanoke Catholic on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Celtics and fell 76-25. The match marked the Cardinals 's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mountain Mission's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a 80-45 loss at the hands of Expression Prep Academy. While losing is never fun, the Challengers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 313th in Virginia, while the Lions are ranked 39th in West Virginia).

Mountain Mission's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-8. As for Jefferson Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Jefferson Christian Academy came up short against Mountain Mission when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 68-57. Can Jefferson Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
