Softball Game Preview: St. Joseph Lancers vs. St. Catherine's Angels

For the second straight game, St. Joseph will face off against St. Catherine. The Lancers will challenge the Angels at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

St. Joseph fell victim to St. Catherine's and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 15-0 to the Angels. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Angels recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

For St. Catherine's part, Anika Munoz made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Those hits marked the first that Munoz allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, St. Catherine's got a massive performance out of Adriana Melendez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Price, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

St. Catherine's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

St. Catherine's record now sits at 3-1. As for St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

St. Joseph suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to St. Catherine's in their previous matchup on Monday. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
