Football Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short + How To Watch

While it was Jefferson who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Mitchell who put up more. The Dragons were just a hair shy of victory and fell 13-12 to the Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty 56 points in the game before, the Dragons couldn't push the score so high this time.

Jefferson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Andreas Zayas, who rushed for 93 yards and one TD on only 11 carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 52 yards.

While Jefferson came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Mitchell: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 45.8%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Milton Harrell and Austin Washington, who each logged one passes deflected. Jefferson hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.47 or higher in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Mitchell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daren Long, who rushed for 73 yards and one score.

Having lost for the first time this season, Jefferson fell to 2-1. As for Mitchell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Jefferson has already played their next matchup, a 39-0 victory against Brandon on the 12th. As for Mitchell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 30-8 defeat against East Lake on the 12th.
