Basketball Game Preview: Lakeside Panthers vs. Laney Wildcats

The Lakeside Panthers will square off against the Laney Wildcats at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, Lakeside ended up a good deal behind Northside and lost 71-52.

Despite their loss, Lakeside saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Charlie Bower, who shot 64% from the field on his way to 19 points and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Cowart, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, Laney suffered their biggest defeat since December 10, 2024 on Friday. They were beaten by Douglass 74-32. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

Laney now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lakeside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Things could have been worse for Lakeside, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 77-59 loss to Laney in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
