Basketball Recap: Greenville Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, Greenville rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 39-35 win over the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets. That's more bragging rights for the Red Raiders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ava Owens continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miracle Cheeks, who posted 11 points.

Greenville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Mill lost, don't look at Zoe Williams. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with eight boards and four blocks. Thanks to that strong game, Williams now owns an excellent 45.5% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Marker, who earned 13 points.

Greenville's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-12. As for Fort Mill, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-11.

Greenville has already played their next game, a 61-55 win against Gaffney on the 25th. Fort Mill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
