Softball Game Preview: Darien Blue Wave vs. Ridgefield Tigers

The Darien Blue Wave are taking a road trip to take on the Ridgefield Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Darien's pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so Ridgefield's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Darien will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Ludlowe on Thursday. The Blue Wave put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 13-7 victory. Considering the Blue Wave have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Ridgefield's offense. They came up short against Trumbull on Wednesday, falling 12-0. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Ridgefield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piper Keane, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Maddie Muncy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ridgefield's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Darien, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Darien might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Ridgefield in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Wave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
