Softball Game Preview: McDaniel Mountain Lions vs. Mountainside Mavericks

The McDaniel Mountain Lions will square off against the Mountainside Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

After dropping their season opener at home, Mountainside is headed out to face a Mountain Lions team ready to give their home crowd a win. McDaniel took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oregon City on Thursday.

Izzy Hale was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Hale was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tiffany Jordan was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Mountainside came up short against McNary on Wednesday and fell 9-5.

Sasha Stratton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Libby Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three RBI.
