Softball Recap: Oceanside Takes a Loss

Oceanside extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They came up short against the Belfast Lions, falling 10-0. If the Mariners were looking for revenge after losing 7-1 to the Lions when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Belfast, the win keeps they at an undefeated 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.0 runs this season.

For Belfast's part, Jordyn MacKay made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. MacKay has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kaitlyn Ryan was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Katience Parenteau was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oceanside will square off against Medomak Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Belfast, they will challenge Camden Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
