Basketball Recap: Catawba Ridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Nation Ford

Catawba Ridge scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the Nation Ford Falcons 66-61. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Copperheads this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-52 back in January.

Catawba Ridge lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Miller Shelton, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 14 points. What's more, Shelton also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kevin Butler, who went 6 of 13 to rack up 18 points.

Nation Ford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Walters out in front who posted 15 points and six assists. Anthony Pryer was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 19 points.

Catawba Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season. As for Nation Ford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-13.

Coming up, Catawba Ridge will face off against Rock Hill at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Catawba Ridge is facing Rock Hill at the right time seeing as Rock Hill is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Nation Ford, they will challenge Clover at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
