It's playoff time, and Niceville had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mosley Dolphins a 10-0 shutout on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Chloe Bailey and Emma Sites made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bailey struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Sites tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bailey has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Bailey went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Sites went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Niceville got a big performance out of Anabelle Shackelford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Shackelford a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Briana Noles, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Niceville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Niceville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Mosley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
