Volleyball Recap: Cotulla Takes a Loss

Cotulla came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Crystal City Javelinas. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Javelinas this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-11.

Crystal City was led to victory by Alyssa Flores and Anayeli Luna. Flores had 24 digs and three assists, while Luna had 13 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Flores has posted since back in August.

Cotulla's loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Crystal City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cotulla will take on rival Poteet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Crystal City is set to face off against their familiar foe Natalia at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
