Basketball Recap: St. Michael the Archangel Comes Up Short

St. Michael the Archangel lost against The Carmel School back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The St. Michael the Archangel Warriors had to suffer through a 69-23 loss at the hands of The Carmel School Wildcats. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, St. Michael the Archangel still got an impressive performance from Janaye Martinez, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 20 rebounds. Martinez has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 39 times she's played.

Kedelin Santos continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for The Carmel School, shooting 4-for-6 from long range and dropping a double-double with 35 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Santos has scored at least a third of The Carmel School's points. Clara Sirois was another key player, going 9 of 16 on her way to 20 points along with six boards and three steals.

St. Michael the Archangel's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for The Carmel School, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

St. Michael the Archangel will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grace Prep on March 7th. As for The Carmel School, they will host Fredericksburg Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
