Baseball Recap: Valley Center Takes a Loss

Valley Center extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 10-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ramona Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday.

Jacob Janata spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

As for Ramona, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games.

On Ramona's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tallon Ogilive, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

Valley Center wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-5 defeat against Canyon Crest Academy on the 21st. As for Ramona, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-3 loss against Escondido on the 21st.
