Basketball Recap: Gracie Williamson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Santee

St. Mary won the last time they faced Santee and things went their way on Thursday too. The St. Mary's Cardinals enjoyed a cozy 58-43 win over the Santee Warriors. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

St. Mary's got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gracie Williamson out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Pyper Ickes, who posted 16 points in addition to seven assists and six steals.

St. Mary's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Santee's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Talia Saunsoci, who put up ten points along with six boards and three steals. Saunsoci has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Miley Pike was another key player, putting up 18 points and four steals.

St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 23-2. As for Santee, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

St. Mary's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-30 victory against Stuart on the 28th. Santee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
