Simon Kenton's 22-11 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 66-55 to Walton-Verona on Friday. While losing is never fun, Simon Kenton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Walton-Verona is ranked 42nd).
Simon Kenton's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jay Bilton, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Polly, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Williamstown scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. Everything went their way against Heritage Academy as Williamstown made off with a 86-61 win. Williamstown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 24 points or more this season.
Simon Kenton's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-11. As for Williamstown, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Everything came up roses for Simon Kenton against Williamstown in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 77-42 victory. With Simon Kenton ahead 44-21 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
