Softball Recap: Concord Bears vs. Campolindo Cougars

Concord had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Campolindo Cougars on Tuesday. The Bears not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th (when they won 22-6).

Aislynn Newlin was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Shay Caban was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Danielah Breaux was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Concord hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campolindo struck out nine times.

Concord's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Campolindo, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-9.
