Softball Game Preview: Austintown-Fitch Falcons vs. Canfield Cardinals

The Austintown-Fitch Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Canfield Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Austintown-Fitch is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Riverside, who was ranked sixth at the time (Austintown-Fitch was ranked 11th). The Falcons lost 11-3 to the Beavers on Wednesday. The Falcons' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Abby Toth made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Canfield narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Marlington 9-7. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Dukes recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Austintown-Fitch's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Canfield, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2-1.

Austintown-Fitch was able to grind out a solid win over Canfield in their previous meeting back in April, winning 20-15. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
