The Chugiak Mustangs will face off against the Dimond Lynx at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Chugiak is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Chugiak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Service, who was ranked first at the time (Chugiak was ranked 12th). The Mustangs fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 5-3 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Blake Yawit was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jack Carron, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Dimond unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 7-3 to Wasilla.

Chugiak's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Dimond, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5-1.

Everything went Chugiak's way against Dimond when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Chugiak made off with a 12-0 win. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Lynx have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
