Softball Recap: Rossview Takes a Loss

Rossview lost against Springfield back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Rossview fell just short of Springfield by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Avery Rauscher spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Madelyn Fillers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Evon Dowlen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Rossview has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. The victory snapped Springfield's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-9-1 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rossview will venture away from home to take on Stewart County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Stewart County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Springfield, they will challenge Portland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
