Softball Recap: Pinellas Park Gets the Win

Pinellas Park hadn't done well against Seminole recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Pinellas Park Patriots had just enough and edged out the Seminole Warhawks 5-4. This was payback for the Patriots, who suffered a 7-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Ayanah Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Wilson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Danielle Overman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sohpie Sokolowski, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Pinellas Park's record is now 3-4. As for Seminole, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Pinellas Park and Seminole could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Pinellas Park will take on Dunedin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 233 places (361 vs. 128). Pinellas Park has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Seminole (ranked 226th) will meet Clearwater (ranked 105th) at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th.
