Basketball Recap: Tavares Falls to Leesburg in First Game of Season

Tavares unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets on Thursday, falling 61-36. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost three in a row.

Morgan Campbell was nothing short of spectacular for Leesburg: she almost dropped a triple-double with 41 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. Those nine steals gave Campbell a new career-high. Racheal Chiles was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.

Leesburg has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coincidentally, Tavares and Leesburg will both be playing Mount Dora the next time they take the court. The Yellow Jackets will host the Hurricanes at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 6:00 p.m. on December 1.
