Softball Recap: La Mirada Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

It's playoff time, and La Mirada had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the La Habra Highlanders by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Matadores as they're now sitting on four straight.

Alison Ortega spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, La Mirada let Reese Hilliard and Rylee Thurmond run wild. Hilliard got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Thurmond went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

La Mirada hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Habra struck out seven times.

La Mirada's win bumped their record up to 26-4. As for La Habra, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 23-8 record.

Looking ahead, La Mirada will take on JSerra Catholic at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games the Lions have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. La Habra does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
