Softball Game Preview: Southern Lee Cavaliers vs. Pinecrest Patriots

The Southern Lee Cavaliers will face off against the Pinecrest Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Lee has given up an average of 14.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Friday just wasn't the day for Southern Lee's offense. They lost 16-0 to Scotland on Friday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Cavaliers were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pinecrest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with a 12-9 win over Richmond on Friday.

Kia Todd was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in doubles. Another player making a difference was Emily Hatcher, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Southern Lee and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Pinecrest, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Southern Lee took their win against Pinecrest when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5. Does Southern Lee have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pinecrest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
