Basketball Recap: Cyprus Falls Despite Big Games from Paden Sharp and Beckham Bayles

Cyprus lost against Juan Diego Catholic back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cyprus Pirates fell 47-36 to the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle. The game marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Cyprus had strong showings from Beckham Bayles, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 12 points along with six assists and six boards, and Paden Sharp, who posted 11 points.

Cyprus' defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for Juan Diego Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Cyprus will look to defend their home court on Friday against Granger at 7:00 p.m. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they will head out to take on Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hunter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Juan Diego Catholic likes a good challenge.
