The sons of former NBA players are always the subject of a special brand of curiosity – and scrutiny – when they decide to pursue the sport that made their fathers famous. And when that dad is one of the most controversial, charismatic and colorful personalities to ever play professional basketball, the intrigue is going to be heightened.

There's no getting around that for Dennis Rodman Jr., a freshman playing varsity basketball this season Corona del Mar (Newport Beach, Calif.).

Yes, his father is The Worm.

Dennis Jr., who appeared at his father's side in 2011 when the Pistons retired his No. 10, is listed as a 6-foot-3 guard and clearly has some potential. He scored seven points in a Corona del Mar loss Tuesday night and has played a major role all year for the 18-8 Sea Kings.

The Worm played his last game in the NBA in 2000, capping a career that included a long run with the Detroit Pistons in addition to stints with San Antonio, Chicago, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. He was a member of 11 playoff teams, five world championship teams and is regarded as one of the best defenders and rebounders in league history.

For those wondering what Dennis the Menace is up to these days, he's active on Twitter (@dennisrodman) and published a children's book called "Dennis the Wild Bull" in 2013.
