Lumberton is 9-1 against South View since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Pirates will challenge the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Lumberton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
While Lumberton's win against Douglas Byrd wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates had just enough and edged out the Eagles 58-56.

Amare Jones and Christopher Hammonds were among the main playmakers for Lumberton as the former went 8-for-19 en route to 22 points and the latter shot 58% from the field to rack up 16 points and eight boards. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Another player making a difference was Nate Lawson, who posted nine points and four steals.
Lumberton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, South View hadn't done well against Pinecrest recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers skirted past the Patriots 75-72. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Lumberton better keep an eye on Jalen Mills. He was instrumental in South View's win, shooting 56% from the field on his way to 28 points. Mills is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kasimir Gibson was another key player, going 5-for-12 to rack up 13 points and seven rebounds.
Lumberton's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for South View, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Wednesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jones and Mills. Jones has been dynamite this season: he has averaged 15.6 points and 2.6 boards. For his part, Mills has averaged 18.6 points, 2.6 steals, and 4.6 rebounds.
Everything came up roses for Lumberton against South View when the teams last played on Wednesday, as the squad secured an 81-49 win. In that game, the Pirates amassed a halftime lead of 43-20, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
