Basketball Recap: Willy Mueller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty Christian Academy over Christian Fellowship

After flying high against Eagle Ridge Christian last Tuesday, Liberty Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of Christian Fellowship by a score of 71-68 on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled against Christian Fellowship recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Liberty Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Willy Mueller, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 23 rebounds. Mueller is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. Tommy Meyer was another key player, shooting 47% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.

It was another big night for Jake Davis, who went 13-for-25 on his way to 36 points and five assists for Christian Fellowship. Those 36 points gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Aslanidis, who posted 11 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Liberty Christian Academy fell to 7-1. As for Christian Fellowship, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coming up, Liberty Christian Academy is taking a road trip to face off against Missouri Military Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Christian Fellowship, they will take on Non Varsity Opponent at 7:15 p.m. on the 12th.
