Volleyball Game Preview: Bishop Gorman Gaels vs. Basic Wolves

Bishop Gorman is 0-4 against Basic since April of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Gaels will square off against the Wolves at 6:00 p.m.

Bishop Gorman is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Somerset Sky Pointe, who was ranked seventh at the time (Bishop Gorman was ranked 21st). The Gaels came up short against the Eagles on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Gaels have suffered since April 4th.

While Bishop Gorman was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-23, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Basic was able to grind out a solid victory over Rancho on Tuesday, taking the game 3-1. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Basic had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-20, 25-8, 25-18.

Bishop Gorman's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Basic, they pushed their record up to 23-10 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Bishop Gorman couldn't quite get it done against Basic in their previous matchup on April 7th as they fell 3-1. Can the Gaels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
