Softball Recap: Broadneck Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Broadneck waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Meade Mustangs a 20-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won eight matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Aliceanna Weibley was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Grace Purdum, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Broadneck's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Meade, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, Broadneck will head out on the road to challenge North County at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Meade, they will challenge Crofton on Friday. The last four games Crofton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
