Softball Recap: Cuero Beats Brazos for Their Third Straight Win

Cuero entered their tilt with Brazos on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 14-5 margin over the Brazos Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Gobblers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Natalie Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. Those hits marked the first that she's allowed this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reagan Reitz, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3. She also put up a double, which washer first of the season. Another player making a difference was Audrey Kremling, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Cuero always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brazos only posted an OBP of .318.

Cuero's record is now 3-1-1. As for Brazos, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Cuero wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 13-2 win against Rice Consolidated on the 15th. Brazos will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Victoria East at 6:30 p.m. on February 25th.
