Salem extended their winning streak to eight on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 10-3 in the process. They beat the Blacksburg Bruins by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-1. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Cora Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Salem got a massive performance out of Caitlin Wells, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ciara Steele, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
