Volleyball Recap: Taft Takes a Loss

Taft entered their game against Bellville on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Raiders took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brahmas.

Taft was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-19.

Casyn Jefferson paced Taft's offense, picking up ten kills. Jefferson got some help from Katie Pauley and her nine assists. Madilyn De La Garza and Presley Quarles kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Taft's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Bellville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.

Taft wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Johnson City on the 23rd. As for Bellville, they will square off against Brazos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
