Basketball Recap: Swansboro Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Swansboro won the last time they faced Dixon and things went their way on Friday too. The Swansboro Pirates were the clear victor by a 69-49 margin over the Dixon Bulldogs. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Swansboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonah Holt led the charge by going 8 of 13 on his way to 24 points along with seven boards and four steals. Holt's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Lorenzo Floyd was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 20 points and five rebounds.

Dixon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Noah Wright, who posted 14 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacorian Taylor, who had seven points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Swansboro pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.5 points over those games. As for Dixon, they are on a 19-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swansboro will square off against West Carteret at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dixon, they will challenge White Oak at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. White Oak knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Dixon likes a good challenge.
