Baseball Game Preview: Grayson County Cougars vs. Hancock County Hornets

The Grayson County Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Hancock County Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Friday just wasn't the day for Grayson County's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-0 to Butler County, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Henderson County hit Hancock County with a four-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hornets came up short against the Colonels, falling 11-1. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Colonels recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Jack Roberts made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

Grayson County's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Hancock County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-18.

Grayson County skirted past Hancock County 7-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
