Recap: West Mecklenburg Hawks vs. Chambers Cougars

The West Mecklenburg Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 65-45 walloping at the hands of Chambers. West Mecklenburg has not had much luck with Chambers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Leading Chambers to victory were Nia Kirk and Brianna Redmond. Kirk scored 19 points, while Redmond scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Kirk scored 15 or more points.

West Mecklenburg's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Chambers, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Mecklenburg's homestand continues as they prepare to take on West Charlotte at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Chambers will take on Hough at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
