Baseball Game Preview: Oak Grove Warriors vs. Pearl Pirates

Oak Grove has gone 7-1 against Pearl recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Oak Grove Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pearl Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Oak Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Pearl will be up against a hot Oak Grove team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Oak Grove's pitcher stepped up to hand Pearl a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddox Miller was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Eric Booth Jr and Kendrell Roberts did most of the damage at the plate: Booth Jr scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Roberts went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Booth Jr has become a key player for Oak Grove: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Kelly, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Oak Grove pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pearl, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
