Basketball Recap: Houston Billeter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southwest over Medicine Valley

Southwest lost against Medicine Valley back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Southwest Roughriders took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Medicine Valley Raiders. The Roughriders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Southwest lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Houston Billeter, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards. His big performance that evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Barber, who posted 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Even though they lost, Southwest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Medicine Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season.

As of now, neither Southwest nor Medicine Valley have any future games scheduled.
