The Newman International Academy Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Dallas Christian Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Warriors fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They came out on top against Temple Christian by a score of 10-5 back in February.

Itzy Prado and Morgan Brooks did most of the damage at the plate: Prado scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4, while Brooks went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Karoline Parada was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Dallas Christian got themselves on the board against Bishop Lynch on Thursday, but Bishop Lynch never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Friars as they made off with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Chargers have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Clara Hamil was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zailey Freeman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Sammi Boothe also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
