La Vernia had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed by the Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees to the tune of 49-17 on Friday. Considering the Bears have won seven contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sean Garza was his usual excellent self, rushing for 199 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Backing up that air attack was Ty Carter, who rushed for 131 yards and a rushing touchdown.

La Vernia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 470 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

La Vernia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Kolby Gates, Cooper Null, and Aden Hajek picked up one apiece.

La Vernia pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points per game. As for Tuloso-Midway, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

La Vernia is on the road again on Thursday to play LBJ Austin at 7:30 p.m. LBJ Austin will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something La Vernia surely won't give up without a fight. Tuloso-Midway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
