Basketball Recap: Christ Chapel Academy Comes Up Short

Christ Chapel Academy was the 49-42 winner over Fairfax HomeSchool when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Christ Chapel Academy were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 54-53 to the Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks. While losing is never fun, Christ Chapel Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Fairfax HomeSchool is ranked 44th).

When it comes to explaining why Christ Chapel Academy lost, don't look at Zaria Gaskins. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 20 on her way to 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dasia Smith, who went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Christ Chapel Academy and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Fairfax HomeSchool, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-3.

Christ Chapel Academy will welcome Saint John Paul the Great Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfax HomeSchool has already played their next contest (against Fairfax Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
