Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson scored the most points they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They had to suffer through a 97-51 loss at the hands of the Manual Arts Toilers. The Democrats haven't had much luck with the Toilers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

It was another big night for Devin Moody, who dropped a triple-double on 33 points, 16 rebounds, and 11 assists for Manual Arts. That makes it 19 consecutive games in which Moody has scored at least a third of Manual Arts' points. Another player making a difference was Dominique Lamb, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Manual Arts, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will face off against Santee at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jefferson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Manual Arts, they will take on West Adams at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Manual Arts will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
