Softball Game Preview: Bridgeport Indians vs. North Marion Huskies

The Bridgeport Indians will take on the North Marion Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Bridgeport has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Preston hit Bridgeport with a six-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians fell just short of the Knights by a score of 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by just one run.

North Marion came out on top against Robert C. Byrd on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Huskies took their match against the Eagles 8-4. The game was the first time the Huskies have beaten the Eagles on their field since April 10, 2019.

Rayden Satterfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kinlee Hess was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Reagan Ash, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for North Marion and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Bridgeport, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Bridgeport suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to North Marion in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
