New Heights Christian Academy will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Ash Grove, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Cougars came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 8-3 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Lockwood got themselves on the board against Northeast Vernon County on Thursday, but Northeast Vernon County never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Knights. That looming 12-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

The team relied heavily on Kolton Kleeman, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Nik Thieman, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

The win (which was Lockwood's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for New Heights Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

New Heights Christian Academy couldn't quite get it done against Lockwood in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 10-5. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
