Football Game Preview: Lutheran Northwest Crusaders vs. Lutheran Warriors

The Lutheran Northwest Crusaders are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Lutheran Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lutheran Northwest will be strutting in after a victory while Lutheran will be coming in after a defeat.

Lutheran Northwest is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Parkway Christian 50-21. Considering the Crusaders' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jonah Breithaupt had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 98 yards and three TDs on only five carries, and also caught one touchdown. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making four total tackles.

Breithaupt was just one part of a punishing run game: Lutheran Northwest was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parkway Christian only rushed for 63.

Meanwhile, Lutheran had to suffer through a 63-7 loss at the hands of Whitmore Lake. The Warriors have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lutheran Northwest, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Everything came up roses for Lutheran Northwest against Lutheran in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 30-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
