Basketball Recap: Put-in-Bay Gets the Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Put-in-Bay ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Lawrence Upper Lions 42-40. The score was all tied up 10-10 at the break, but the Panthers were the better team in the second half.

Despite the loss, Lawrence Upper still got an impressive performance from Evan Rone, who posted 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 47.5% of the Lions' points, marking the fourth time in a row Rone has earned more than a third of the team's points. Asher Davis was another key player, putting up two points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Put-in-Bay now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lawrence Upper, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Put-in-Bay will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Horizon Science Academy at 5:15 p.m. on the 16th. As for Lawrence Upper, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
